Parkinson’s - start fighting back
Parkinson’s is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder. It affects the dopamine producing area of the brain which controls, among other things, movement. It is thought there are as many as 10 million people worldwide living with this condition.
There are numerous symptoms, both motor and non-motor. No two people are the same which is why it is often referred to as “The Snowflake Disease.”
Common symptoms include Bradykinesia (slowness of movement), Tremor (normally when resting), Muscle Rigidity and Postural Instability (increased risk of falls). Non-motor symptoms can include sleep disturbance, bladder issues, and cognitive challenges.
My extensive research and learning has involved completing training courses including Parkinson’s Pro and MedFit Parkinson’s Exercise Disease Specialist.
This means I am a fully accredited exercise specialist for Parkinson’s. For the last three years, I have worked with numerous people living with this condition. There is currently no cure for Parkinson’s but there is solid evidence which demonstrates that the correct type of exercise programme can slow the progress of Parkinson’s.
My training treats each person as an individual based on their symptoms. My packages offer a bespoke one-to-one programme focused on your specific needs. Training packages are designed to improve cardio fitness, muscle strength and endurance, flexibility, balance, nutrition, and cognitive function.
